Motivational Speaking and Group Presentation
Using personal and professional experiences and university master’s level training in psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy, I offer an array of mental health, recovery, and easily relatable topics.
Who Can Benefit?
I have presented to clients and staff of non-profit agencies, intensive out-patient programs, in-patient residential programs, and group homes, serving those with mental health and recovery needs. I have also presented at colleges and schools.
The diverse population of the groups I have presented to have included adults, adolescents, all genders, LGBTQ, seniors, Veterans and young adults.
What is Presented?
I always discuss with the contact person about program need. Every group dynamic shares a common need,
I can also custom a topic to your specific need. I can suggest what topics are in more demand than others as well.
Location and Presentation Style
I have presented at non-profit agencies and treatment programs here in San Diego County, in Norco California at Norco College and at Treatment Centers out-of-state (Nevada).
I believe that we all have different learning styles. That is why my presentations are interactive. I involve the group, however; I do not force or put pressure on anyone to share. Critical thinking can also be critical listening, I respect that.
I present most of my information with Power-point and or white board. However, I use handouts and group participation reading. I also incorporate hands-on affirmation activities as part of some presentations.
Many times the client who rarely speaks feels comfortable enough to share during my presentations.
60-22-8/13-1
Lee Iacocca famous automobile industrialist once said, “No meeting should go past 1 hour.” He was an industry icon who met with corporations and world leaders. He knew that after 60 minutes, information stands little chance of being absorbed.
Heres why: Over the course of 60 minutes, we hear 22 minutes of information presented. Our minds and thoughts are somewhere else when we are lectured. Of those 22 minutes, we retain 8-13 minutes. That it. It’s why teachers teach in 22-minute blocks so that students understand and keep information. I always say to the group, go for 1 new information bit. A group member keeps over 1 new learned thing.
Topics
Here are the topics in high demand. I present these topics in 60-minute blocks. If a topic needs more attention I always break at 60 minutes.
A.N.T.S (automatic negative thoughts) | Boundaries | H.A.L.T (hunger, anger, lonely. tired) | Victim vs Victor | Relationships |
Guilt vs. Shame | Forgiveness | Relapse Prevention
(lapse vs relapse) |
PAWS (post acute withdrawal syndrome) | Communication |
Stages of Change | 3 Stones Hike | 5 Senses Hike | 5 Stages of Grief | Anxiety and Depression |
Fee
My standard fee is $75-$195 per hour, minimum 2 hours. I base my fee on group size and number of presentations requested. For example, will this be a weekly or onetime presentation? Custom topics and out-of-state presentations incur a higher fee due to preparation.
I charge a travel fee of .75 per mile driven. Therefore, if the miles driven is 100 round trip, my fee would be $75.00. Minimum travel fee is $25.00. Airfare is the cost of the airline ticket. If overnight accommodations are required I also charge the hotel fee and meals.
